Feedback BFFI 2018

Staffordshire County Showground, 10-11 February 2018. Beside meeting dozens of old friends and made many new ones, I was completely impressed by the great number of enthusiastic people that visit Chevron’s Hackle Fly Tying Clinic. It was a pleasure for me to answer all the interesting questions to the visitors that visiting us. I enjoy doing the Theatre Programme on Saturday and Sunday as well. I would like to thank the organisers and all the nice ladies who really take care about us so well with coffee, candies and cookies during the show.

Brian Clarke master of wooden fly tying tools

An absolute highlight of the show was my discovery that my old friend Brian Clarke was making his 15 piece wooden fly tying tools again however in small quantities. In my personal opinion the best wooden fly tying tools ever made. Many people copied his tools and let them made in China or India but none of them ever reached the quality that Brian was able to produce since the 1990’s.

Brian’s wonderful wooden tools, with prototype (top right), the 1990 version (bottom) and the new 2018 version top left!

Klink or Parachute Whip Finish tool.  Special designed by  Brian Clarke and me in 1996 to carrying out whip finishes around the post of Parachute flies.
