Crazy Sedge (Leon Links)

Hook: Daiichi 1170 sizes 14-10
Thread: Uni-thread, 6/0, colour brown or tan
Body: Thread and palmered hackle
Hackle: High quality, colour red-brown
Wing: A bunch of soft pale grey almost whitish coloured reindeer hair. (Caribou perfect substitute)

The Crazy sedge has worked extremely well for trout, sea trout, char and salmon.

Crazy Sedge (Parachute and salmon variation)(Leon Links)

Hook: Daiichi 2117 or 2110 size 10 -4
Thread: Uni-thread 6/0, brown or tan
Ribbing: Uni nylon stretch, colour brown
Body: Thread and palmered saddle hackle
Hackle: High quality short fibred long saddles hackle, colour red-brown for body. Large red-brown neck hackle in front for parachute.
Wing: A bunch of soft pale grey almost whitish coloured reindeer hair. (Caribou)
Head: The reindeer (the left over) cut

The parachute wing gives the fly a better floatability, especially fishing in rough water.

Dancing Teaser (Hans van Klinken)

Hook: Daiichi 2117 or 2110 size 10 -4
Thread: Uni-thread, 8/0, colour olive
Ribbing: White saddle hackle and nylon stretch
Body: Uni Nylon stretch, colours chartreuse/ fl. green
Bottom Loop: Chartreuse coloured poly yarn (Wapsi) I use the loop to tie the hackle fibres (that pointing down from ribbing) in a horizontal direction.
Hackles: High quality saddle, colours ginger, light dun or white for ribbing and a larger neck hackle in front.
Wing: A bunch of soft pale grey almost whitish coloured reindeer hair. (Caribou)
Head: Reindeer hair (left overs) cut

This is a fancy variation that I designed at the Grey River in Nfld. It works well in Scandinavia and other provinces in Atlantic Canada.

Tied as Crazy sedge but with dark coloured hackle and reindeer hair dyed dark brown or black. This fly is easier to see on the water, this pattern is intended for extremely low light situations. This pattern is intended for extremely low light situations

White Dancer (Hans van Klinken)

Hook: Daiichi 2117 or 2110 size 10 -4
Thread: Uni thread 8/0 white
Body: Uni-stretch, colour white
Ribbing: Hackle and nylon stretch
Loop: White poly yarn (Wapsi)
Hackle: High quality saddle, colours ginger, light dun or white and larger neck hackle in front
Wing: A bunch of soft grey-whitish coloured reindeer hair. (Caribou)

 

A variation adapted from the White Wulff. Very effective in Atlantic Canada.
