The deadly Off-Beads (part 5: Leadhead version 3.0, MATERIALS)

Many people still don’t know but in spite the fact that  the Klinkhåmer Special is my most famous fly it isn’t my most successful one. If I gone look to the number of catches and the variety of species than my Leadhead will beat the Klinkhåmer in success by far. In most lakes and rivers that I fished I catch something with my Leadhead, even in the Caribbean where I was able to land several nice bonefish with my Leadhead.

The beads
Tag materials: Flexibody in fluorescent colours
Original Peeping Caddis sparkle yarn as once introduced by Oliver Edwards. (Now only available through Semperfli – except bright green)
Chevron’s fantastic and amazing coloured pheasant rump patches for the tail or leg imitations
Partridge is still awesome material for fly tying but please note that partridge is a protected bird in many countries today. This is why I change to the pheasant soft hackle and which is even even better for the larger leadheads!
Squirrel hairs for body
Ice dub for body
My favourite dubbing by far: Natural squirrel hair mixed with very fine Ice Dub
Squirrel dyed olive and mixed with Ice Dub. I love to make my own dubbings!!
