My largest kid event in Europe (part 1)

When I talk about the largest fly fishing, fly tying and conservation project with kids not many people will believe this happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After very successful workshops and classes with kids in 2015 my friend Ado Adnan Zvonić, his family and the wonderful people from the fly fishing club in Konjic wanted to do something more. The friendship I had built up with Ado, Hrabren Kapić, the secretary and chairman of the fly fishing club in Konjic had become so intense that we decided to try to arrange something  exceptional for 2016.

Registration from all the materials given to us by our sponsors

We were all eager to go a big step ahead and our big dream was born to organise something that never ever has been done before on the mainland of Europe. We wanted to do something with kids in relation with fly fishing, fly tying and conservation that was not just unique or special but also something that would stay in the minds of kids for a very long time. Thanks to all the help from Organizacija Sportskih Ribolovaca Konjic, Semperfli (UK), Daiichi hooks (USA), Fly Rite (USA), Fly Fishing Gazette (Netherlands), Jaap Honingh and many volunteers and sponsors from the city of Konjic we were able to realize our project and make a dream come to fruition.

Tribute to our main sponsor Semperfli

I love making dreams; I keep them alive and will do everything to fulfil my dreams even when it sometimes took me dozens of years to let my dreams come true. Our plan was do try to gather as many kids as possible on the banks of the River Neretva in the city of Konjic, build a little shelter in case of rain, do some conservation classes, explain a bit about fly fishing, let the kids tie a fly and let them help to put some home-grown trout in the river as part of an new reintroduction project. As special surprise for the kids the fishing club had arrange an excellent barbeque somewhere around lunchtime. My big goal for this day was be sure every single kid would be able to tie his or her own fly. I expected not more than 40 kids but at the end of the day the total calculation had stop at 89.

Building up the fly tying area

The event turned out in an enormous success, especially for me because all the kids had tie a fly. Have a look and enjoy with me the pictures that were captured during this exceptional event.
